Please share your academic or tennis related awards or achievements with us.
I got the chance of playing in the Orange Bowl qualifying in Florida, which was a great experience for me. This past season, I have played in more junior ITF tournaments across Canada and have improved my international ranking to a high of 2315. I have also represented Alberta at the Canadian Junior Nationals on two occasions. Another achievement I am very proud of is reaching the semi finals in doubles of last summer’s Winnipeg J30 ITF tournament
How old you were when you started to take tennis seriously, what or who inspired or motivated you to do so?
I played my first tournament in Alberta when I was 11 years old. At this time I was also playing baseball. I stopped baseball and focused primarily on tennis around the age of 13. I chose this path because I enjoyed improving my game as much as possible and I preferred the individuality of the sport.
What was your biggest challenge in obtaining your tennis goals?
My biggest challenge in obtaining my tennis goals was balancing my school work with my sport. Throughout my years at aforza, I attended public school, so I had to have strong time management. This allowed me to focus on my tennis while maintaining strong academic grades.
Please share your fondest memories from your training or competition with Aforza?
My favourite memories from Aforza were all the trips to Florida. I went on the trip for four years, and enjoyed travelling with the coaches and players from aforza, and competing against different opponents.
Do you have any advice for other young players?
Your improvement as a tennis player won’t happen overnight. It takes time and dedication. There will be days where you don’t want to continue with it. Just show up to practice and fitness every day and keep working hard.
