How old you were when you started to take tennis seriously, what or who inspired or motivated you to do so?
I started playing tennis at 6 and took it seriously at 9. My parents played the sport and loved it so they decided to enroll my sister and I in it as well.
What was your biggest challenge in obtaining your tennis goals?
My biggest challenge in obtaining my tennis goals was after winning nationals I thought that I was the best and didn't have to improve anymore which was clearly not the case. I started slacking especially during quarantine since we had to stay at home and was not playing at all. Once tennis opened back up again I realized that the other kids had found ways to work hard and improve during covid. I had to work harder if I wanted to achieve my goals of college tennis and get back to being a top player in Canada. I overcame this by focusing on myself and how I could improve rather than focusing on how the other players were better at that moment.
Please share your fondest memories from your training or competition with Aforza?
When I was younger I would only care about winning which made it seem like that was the only thing that mattered in life. Throughout my time at Aforza I've learnt that I needed to shift my mindset to become a team player and create friendships with the people on my team as this would become a valuable trait and mindset that I could bring to my next phase of tennis in college. I always felt the immense support of every staff member at Aforza the second I walked into the building whether that was catching up with the front desk staff after a long weekend to seeing my friends on the court to then receiving helpful advice on my tennis game from the coaches. I've had many laughs and incredible memories with my teammates and coaches and while I'm very excited to enter this new chapter of my life I will miss everyone at Aforza greatly.
